Before joining battalion

Aldo served with Company D, 6th Regiment, New York National Guard from 29 December 1942 to 7 June 1944. He was honorably discharged to enter the Marine Corps.

Boot camp at Parris Island with First Recruit Battalion. Outposted to Third Training Battalion, Infantry Training Regiment, Camp Lejeune; qualified as automatic rifleman. On 10 October 1944, transferred to 17th Replacement Draft for deployment overseas.

Joined Baker Company, First Battalion, 24th Marines at Camp Maui, on 22 November 1944.

    Only son of Italian born parents Giovanni “John” (1886-1950) and Giovanna “Jennie” Sorcinelli (1891-1969). One sister, Maria “Mary” Theresa Sorcinelli Bargnesi (1912-2003). Worked at John S. Ridenour, Saranac Lake, New York prior to the service.

    Served in the New York Army National Guard, 6th Regiment, Company L, December 29, 1942 – June 7, 1944. Received an honorable discharge to enter the Armed Forces.

    PFC Nathan Waldon Brown, 19, of River Rouge, Michigan, Private First Class Lorrin Frederick Lane, 20, of Norwalk, Connecticut and Private Sorcinelli, all died from wounds in the same battle on the same day, March 13, 1945.
