Intel on the First Battalion, 24th Marines.

The role of Battalion intelligence – the “2-section” – was to act as scouts and observers, keeping the battalion commander appraised not only of the enemy situation, but of the disposition of friendly troops. They collected information from captured material and interrogating prisoners; they created reports, drafted maps, and analyzed photographs; they kept the unit’s journal and interpreted their findings for future operations.
