Corporal Lee Roy Anderson Jr, who saw action in the fighting for the Aleutian Islands before joining First Battalion for four more campaigns, during which he would be twice wounded.
Private Melvin Solomon Adalman, who joined Company B as a raw replacement during the battle of Iwo Jima, and only served with the company for a week before his death.
2nd Lt. Charles Renwick Anderson, Jr, a Nebraskan football star who gathered a group of volunteers to attack a Japanese position on Iwo Jima, where he was mortally wounded.
PFC Perry Allen, a full-blooded Navajo who attended code-talker school, but became a machine gunner and was wounded by friendly fire on Saipan.
