WWII Photos:
Charles L. Tackett
Charles Tackett was inducted into the Marine Corps in May of 1944. Assigned to A/1/24th Marines as a replacement on Iwo Jima, Tackett experienced the depths of hell in a few short days before he was shot in the hip and evacuated.
Tackett briefly returned to Able Company in the spring of 1945, but his wound continued to trouble him and he was eventually reassigned to garrison duty at Pearl Harbor for the rest of the war.
