Hello readers, researchers, family, friends, followers, Marines, and those who have reached this page entirely by accident.
In a somewhat unexpected but entirely welcome turn of events, I will be starting graduate school very shortly, pursuing a master’s degree in military history. While this is great news for my own professionalism and credibility (and how well I can relate the stories of the First Battalion Marines), it also means that I won’t have very much time to update the site. My job keeps me busy from 50-60 hours per week, and school work on top of that will be – well, let’s call it “interesting” and see where that goes.
Therefore, I am going to hustle to put up skeleton biographies for as many Marines as I can. I hope that these very brief sketches will help give an idea of the battalion’s history, and will also show up in web searches so that family members can contact me. (Thanks immensely to the many that have already!) As I’m able, I will fill in the biographical details.
If you see a name you recognize on this website and have anything at all to contribute – a photo, a story, a correction, a question, anything at all – please don’t hesitate to email me (webmaster@ablecompany24.com) or just leave a comment on the bio page and I’ll do what I can to be of service.
Thank you all for your support, and for your continuing help in telling the stories and preserving the memories of these brave men.
Yours,
Geoffrey
