Boot camp at Parris Island with Twelfth Recruit Battalion. Outposted directly to Company B, First Separate Battalion (Reinforced) at New River, NC, on 18 December 1942.

From 28 January to 22 February 1943, attended Diesel Engineering School at Ohio State Armory.

  1. Thank you for your Family’s WWII sacrifice.
    I commanded 4th Engineer Battalion (now 4th Combat Engineer Bn), 4th Marine Division in the Iraq War (2001-2004). I had the privilege of meeting most of the remaining WW2 vets of Carrol’s unit from Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian & Iwo Jima. Great reunions. He was loved & respected. We remember him & his dedication & sacrifice. My Dad was also a WW2 Marine. God bless you! Semper Fi, Mike ????????????????
