Service & Campaigns
Before joining battalion

Boot camp at Parris Island with Eighth Recruit Battalion; outposted to Camp Lejeune, NC, for infantry training. Transferred to 65th Replacement Draft on 16 June 1944 for transit to Hawaii.

Joined Replacement Battalion, FMF Pacific on 20 August 1944. Assigned to Baker Company, First Battalion, 24th Marines on 18 September.

Iwo Jima

Important Events:
February 19, 1945 – wounded in action (gunshot, left chest); evacuated to transport USS Ozark. Transferred on unknown date to hospital ship USS Samaritan.

February 23, 1945 – died of wounds aboard USS Samaritan en route to Saipan. Remains transferred to Graves Registry Service, Saipan, for burial.
