Service & Campaigns
Before joining battalion

Enlisted in Marine Corps Reserve; assigned to Platoon Leaders Unit, 12th Reserve District, and placed on inactive duty as Private First Class. On 1 July 1943, called to active duty at Marine Detachment, Naval Training Unit (V-12), College of the Pacific, Stockton, CA.

In spring 1944, transferred to Twelfth Recruit Battalion, Parris Island, for boot camp. Outposted to Officer Candidates Battalion, Camp Lejeune, and assigned to Special Officer Candidates School (SOCS) for instruction. Commissioned as second lieutenant on 30 September 1944; transferred to Infantry Battalion, Camp Pendleton on 6 October 1944, assigned to 24th Replacement Draft on 30 October.

Joined Charlie Company, First Battalion, 24th Marines as a platoon leader on 6 December 1944.

Important Events:
February 20, 1945 – wounded in action (shell fragment, face); evacuated to hospital ship USS Solace for treatment.

February 23, 1945 – died at 1815 hours aboard USS Solace en route to Saipan. Remains transferred to Graves Registry Service, Saipan, for burial.
