it is not totally clear why George Danciu served under the name George Dancin; a simple clerical error may be to blame.

Service & Campaigns
Before joining battalion

Boot camp at Parris Island with Second Recruit Battalion. Outposted to base Rifle Range Detachment on 16 October 1942 as student cook.

Transferred to H&S Company, First Separate Battalion (Reinforced) as assistant cook on 17 January 1943.

Non-Combat

On rolls of Headquarters Company, First Battalion, 24th Marines as Assistant Cook (Commissary) from 17 January 1943 to 20 May 1943.

Transferred to Able Company, First Battalion, 24th Marines as Assistant Cook on 21 May 1943. On rolls until transferred to Training Center Camp Elliott on 18 November 1943.

After leaving battalion

Served with H&S Company, Engineer Battalion, Camp Elliott until February 1944, at which point transferred to Fox Company, Second Battalion, 26th Marines.
