Service & Campaigns
Before joining the Marine Corps, Marwood served ten months with the Merchant Marine.
Boot camp at MCRD San Diego; outposted to Fourth Signal Battalion, Fourth Marine Division, for transit to Hawaii. Assigned duty with Headquarters and Service Company, 24th Marines, as a scout.
Made combat landing on Saipan on 15 June 1944. Transferred to B/1/24th Marines as a replacement on 1 July 1944.

Died as a result of wounds suffered on Saipan (cerebral abscess from gunshot wound in head) on 11 August 1944. Buried in US Cemetery #1, Noumea (Plot 9, Row 5, Grave 447).
