Harvey Edward Williams is my Father. My Dad died in June of 1986. My Mom’s name was Ligita (Lee) . I have 2 brother’s also, Timothy and Douglas.
We are all very proud of Dad and his dedicated service to our Country.
What these men endured is remarkable not only during the battles they fought, but also for many, including my dad, the battles they fought for the rest of their lives within themselves.
I know not a day went by that what my father experienced was forever on his mind. We woke our father up with a broom handle never getting too close as if he were still being alarmed from a foxhole.
If anyone out there has any memories of my Dad, please feel free to contact me as I would love to hear them.
Well today. 72 years ago the flag was placed on Mount Surubachi. The Fight had only just begun, but I am sure that flag meant much to the Marines that day.
    Semper Fi Marines.

    Daniel H. Williams

    1. Daniel- My father, William C. Logan, was in Charlie Company as a machine gunner, seeing combat at Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. With regard to the photo of the five marines posted on this page, it is interesting that Dad’s album of photos and autographs from his time in the Marines includes a fragment of the same one! For some reason, it was clipped in such a way that only the upper portion showing Zebley, Bowman, and Ball exists. The photo here just helped me identify those other than Ball on the remnant in Dad’s album.

      1. Brad,
Thank you for responding. I am glad my post helped you with your Picture. If you have any other knowledge or pictures of my Father I’d really like to see them. If you would like to communicate further please don’t hesitate to contact me. It would be great to hear from you.
        Regards,
        Daniel H. Williams
