Dick Stebbins is my father in law and is still alive. He will be 90 in a month. He does not talk about his service, although we do know that his best friend in the marines was killed next to him when they hit the water to the beach at Iwo Jima. He is a very quiet man with a deep scar on his leg; a “souvenir “of his service. I wonder often what he remembers about that time.
