Before joining battalion

Boot camp at MCRD San DDieto with First Recruit Battalion. Outposted to Motor Transport School, Service Battalion, MCB San Diego for instruction. On 29 July 1943, assigned to Headquarters & Service Company, 24th Marines at Camp Pendleton.

Participated in the Roi-Namur campaign with H&S/24th Marines.

Transferred to A/1/24th Marines at Camp Maui on 9 April 1944.

After leaving battalion

Transferred to Transient Center, FMF Pacific on 26 September 1944; admitted to US Naval Hospital Oakland, California, on 15 October. Transferred to Naval Hospital San Diego; on rolls with casual companies through March 1945. Honorably discharged for reasons of disability on 20 March 1945.
