June 17, 1944 – awarded Silver Star Medal for actions on this date.
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving as an aid man attached to a Marine rifle company, First Battalion, Twenty-Fourth Marines, Fourth Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on the night of 17 June 1944. When numerous casualties were inflicted on an adjacent platoon during a fierce, close-range enemy grenade attack and word was passed that a hospital corpsman was needed, Robey, although fully aware of the extreme hazard, unhesitatingly made his way to the wounded man and, working quickly and skillfully carried out his professional duties and completed his task expeditiously despite darkness and difficult conditions. Robey’s courageous conduct and unselfish efforts on behalf of his comrades in the face of grave peril were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
