Before joining battalion

Boot camp at Parris Island with 13th Recruit Battalion; outposted to Company E, Signal Battalion, TC Camp Lejeune on 30 May 1944. Transferred to 65th Replacement Draft on 16 June 1944 for transit to Hawaii.

Joined Replacement Battalion, FMF Pacific on 20 August 1944. Assigned to Baker Company, First Battalion, 24th Marines on 18 September.
